The Delray Beach Playhouse is a non-profit, cultural and educational organization which is administered by a Board of Governors. Its purpose is to educate people of all ages about the performing arts, give the community a place to learn, and perform and provide quality theatre for attendees. Each production is the product of the involvement of a diverse cross-section of volunteer community members who not only perform, but design, build sets, run lights, sound, curtains, and greet and usher. The By-Laws of the Playhouse prohibit any form of compensation to its performers, all of whom are cast as a result of open auditions. This year over 25,000 hours of volunteer time was logged at the Playhouse.
