Sister Cities of Delray Beach is using funds from the Great Give to replace damaged operating room equipment in the hospital in our sister city: Aquin, Haiti. Damage from a severe fire in September 2016 , and further destruction from Hurricane Matthew a month later, left this much-needed hospital devastated. Basic operating room supplies, surgical tables and surgical lights all need to be replaced, along with other critical equipment. Every donation, large or small, will have a positive impact on the health and well-being of hundreds of people.
A Sister City relationship is a broad based, officially approved, long-term partnership between two communities in two countries. Sister City partnerships have the potential to carry out the widest possible diversity of activities of any international program, including every type of municipal, business, professional, educational and cultural exchange or project.
Delray Beach currently has sister city relationships with Aquin, Haiti • Miayazu, Japan • Moshi, Tanzania • Pesaro, Italy.
