Our mission is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. In addition to providing clothing to women entering or re-entering the workforce, we offer two 10 week job readiness courses: Next Step, for young women, ages 18 to 25, who are at risk or are aging out of foster care and lack the skills and abilities to obtain employment and break the cycle of poverty; and New Directions, a job readiness course for women ages 25 and older, who are either unemployed or underemployed. These courses are designed to help women understand their natural abilities and transferable skills. Each participant completes a personality assessment, customizes their résumé for different positions, and learns to navigate LinkedIn and other social media for job leads. Our goal is to teach these women how to build a life foundation based on self-knowledge and self-worth, and give them the tools and network of support which will enable them to navigate life independently while securing a stable future. Our Career Corner was designed to assist women who are unable to attend the 10-week programs, but want assistance with job searching, resume review, and mock interviewing with a coach. All of our women come as referrals from other nonprofit agencies, meaning they are facing issues such as homelessness, poverty, domestic violence, mental or physical disabilities, and addiction.
