Donations to Grassy Waters Conservancy go to support, promote, and protect Grassy Waters Preserve, in West Palm Beach, for environmental education, research, and nature based experiences, while ensuring its ecological integrity, and in concert with its role as a regional water supply. The 24 square mile Preserve was part of the original northern Everglades. It was recognized by the Florida Legislature for its uniqueness and importance, and afforded special protection. It also has historical significance, as it was part of the original Flagler water system in the 1890’s, and continues to be the principal source of water for West Palm Beach and Palm Beach. The Preserve remains a pristine remnant of the original Everglades ecosystem and is a refuge to threatened and endangered species including the Bald Eagle and Everglades Snail Kite.
