The Police Athletic League of West Palm Beach strives to prevent juvenile crime and violence by providing civic, athletic, recreational and educational opportunities to the youth of West Palm Beach.
PAL in West Palm Beach began in the late 80’s with the City of West Palm Beach’s Police Department Youth Sports Program. Officers coached youth baseball and soccer at Phipp’s Park located on Dixie Highway in the south end. Most of the officers coached on a voluntary basis; however some did coach during work hours. In 2004, PAL built a youth center. The center now houses a youth leadership program as well as being the main office for staff. Today, PAL provides football, cheerleading, dance, wrestling, baseball, teen program, life skills classes, financial literacy, and art classes to the youth of West Palm Beach.
